High-pressure technology for Sargassum spp biomass pretreatment and fractionation in the third generation of bioethanol production

Sargassum spp is an invasive macroalgae and alternative feedstock for bioethanol production. biomass was subjected to high-pressure technology fractionation under different operating conditions of temperature residence time obtain glucan enriched pretreated solids (32.22 g/100 g raw material). Enzyme hydrolysis process at high solid loading (13%, w/v) enzyme 10 FPU/g performed, obtaining 43.01 g/L glucose corresponding a conversion yield 92.12%. Finally, pre-simultaneous saccharification fermentation strategy (PSSF) performed produce bioethanol. This operational produced 45.66 in the pre-saccharification stage, 18.14 with 76.23%. The development this highlights feasibility production from macroalgal biorefinery concept.
